Floor tiling.
Carefully considered.

A tiled floor connects a room from edge to edge. Whether you want the warmth of wood-effect porcelain, the texture of natural stone or a clean, large-format finish, good preparation and setting-out make the difference.

A THOUGHTFUL APPROACH

Straight lines. Balanced cuts. A floor that belongs in the room.

Dave can discuss floors for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and living spaces. Before a finish is chosen, it is worth looking at the existing floor, the transition to neighbouring rooms, door clearances and the direction of the tile layout.

Let’s consider the whole room.

  • Porcelain, ceramic and natural stone floor tiling
  • Wood-effect planks and large-format layouts
  • Hallway patterns, borders and decorative inserts
  • Thresholds and transitions between adjoining rooms
BEFORE THE FIRST TILE

A little planning.
A better result.

Existing timber and solid floors need different assessments. If you have underfloor heating, share the system information and installation plan before work is arranged. Preparation, movement provision and product compatibility should follow the relevant system and material guidance.

Dave is based in Keighley and has over 25 years of experience in tiling and multi-skilled trade work across Yorkshire. Send your postcode and project details to start the conversation.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

Floor tiling. Your questions.

Every room is different. If your question is more specific, ask Dave.

Can you tile over an existing floor?

Sometimes, but the existing surface must be assessed first. Movement, damage, adhesion, floor height and the requirements of the chosen system all affect the decision. Do not assume that a sound-looking surface is ready for tiling.

Are wood-effect tiles suitable for living areas?

Wood-effect porcelain can give a room a plank-style appearance with a tiled finish. Check the product’s suitability for the intended room and consider the plank size, pattern and grout colour together.

Can I run the same tiles through several rooms?

Yes, where the construction and layout allow it. Doorways, changes in substrate, movement provision and finished levels need to be planned; one continuous visual finish does not mean every construction joint can be ignored.

What should I send for a floor tiling enquiry?

Approximate dimensions, photographs, the existing floor type and the tile you are considering are a useful starting point. Mention underfloor heating, adjoining floors and any furniture or appliances that need to be moved.
